Samsung launches Galaxy S II and Galaxy Tab 10.1

Samsung spared no expense in hiring out a massive auditorium in the middle of Barcelona to announce its two new Android crown jewels.

The Samsung Galaxy S II is the Android 2.3 successor to the Galaxy S. As well being one of the first handsets to sport Gingerbread - apart from the NEXUS S, of course - there are some major hardware upgrades, which you can see in the spec sheet below.

Chief among them are a new processor, which Samsung is only calling 1GHz and dual-core. We couldn't get anyone to call it Orion, but we don't see how it can be anything else. The other most conspicuous upgrade is the screen, which is a 4.27 inch super AMOLED plus, which looked pretty cool. The chassis was also pretty thin and light.
