According to the grapevine, NVIDIA's gearing up to launch the GeForce GTX 560 in a few weeks, and you know what that means, right? Yep, you guessed it, pre-launch benchmarks leaked onto the web.

Surfacing at Chinese forum chiphell.com, the early benchmarks - which of course should be taken with a pinch of salt - have the upcoming GPU scoring 4,118 in 3DMark 11's performance benchmark, and 20,644 in 3DMark Vantage.

Without knowing the system specifications, it's difficult to tell how the card compares, but we are treated to a graph that purportedly pits the GTX 560 up against its nearest rivals. Using 3DMark Vantage and Unigine 2.1 as the benchmarks - both of which we should add have a tendency to perform better on NVIDIA architecture - the graph suggests that GTX 560 performance will come close to matching AMD's Radeon HD 6950, whilst beating the previous-generation GTX 460 by around 25 per cent.

It's impossible to say how accurate the data is until the fabled card lands at the HEXUS labs, but if the GTX 560 manages to meet a sub-£200 price point, it could be an interesting proposition.

Eagle-eyed readers will also note that the screenshots show GPU-Z identifying the upcoming card as a GeForce GTX 560 Ti. If that's anything to go by, NVIDIA might be preparing to resurrect the Titanium brand last seen on GeForce 4 Series cards almost a decade ago.

This would mean the GTX570 is a bit pointless now!

The GTX570 is around 10% faster than an HD6950:

The HD6950 1GB will probably be able to compete with the GTX560 quite well it seems.
But I already have a 500 series ti card ;) (GF3 ti500)
perfect model placement - can forsee a new card as well- the GTS 550 at some point as well :D

can also see HD6850 prices crash after this , as the mid range just went passed it.

With my Radeon 7000-series card we're really bleeding edge  We should benchmark them against each other to see who'll win the battle of the next generation
Hate to quibble on the maths, but if the GTX460 achieves about 75% of the performance of the GTX560 then the 560 offers around 33% more performance than the 460, not 25% as stated in the article.

Maths geek, sorry! :geek:
