The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is one of those organisations that quiely operates under the radar, but has a big influence on a lot of the technology we use every day.

Stu Lipoff is a fellow of the IEEE, and in that capacity is called upon to speak on technology standards and trends. So when we got the opportunity to bring him into the HEXUS TV studios for an interview, we asked him to bring over some of the latest gadgets he's being playing with.

In the video below you can see a fully functional phone-watch that can be bought for an amazingly low price, and the latest in autosteroscopic photography. There's also a reminder that not all cool gadgets are electronic.

We then move onto the main reason for him being in the UK - 3D TV. I propose that the whole thing is just a gimmick imposed on the market by consumer electronics companies desperate to find a new feature to sell their tellies and content against. Lipoff concedes the point to some extent, but insists 3D is here to stay.
