There’s nothing like a violent video game to spark a bit of controversy and cause a media backlash. In a similar vein to Medal Of Honor, which received unwanted attention for its inclusion of Taliban fighters, politics are again top of the agenda following the launch of Call Of Duty Black Ops this week.

Cuban officials are outraged at the mission in Black Ops that involves trying to assassinate former Cuban president Fidel Castro. A government-run cubadebate website, has taken a dig at the game for glorifying attempts on the former governor’s life, who has frequently been the victim of such attacks.

“What the United States government did not achieve in more than 50 years, it now tries to do virtually,” reads the statement.

"This new video game is doubly perverse. On the one hand, it glorifies the illegal assassination attempts the United States government planned against the Cuban leader … and on the other, it stimulates sociopathic attitudes in North American children and adolescents."

We thought the whole "violent video games cause violent sociopaths" tendencies debate was dead and buried, but this will spark it back up again. Do you think Cuba is right to be upset?

Right, we're off to stealthily track down a grey-haired, bearded fellow with our crossbow.

Yeah I think it's reasonable they're upset about it; the constant US-glorifying, history-bending crap you see in lots of American media even annoys me but I can't help thinking this is the reaction they were hoping for, to gain some media attention…
i agree, i havent played the new cod (overpriced mod if you ask me!) but i presume you actually win in terms of assassinating this man? If they want to show the real history(which is what they are trying to do, right?) then they should make it so you have to FAIL that mission, get extracted or something :P.

I hate American glorification, its just as bad as them saying they won WW2 all on their own when really we did the majority of the ****! They just gave us munitions and sat back till they got bombed. I recall at US schools they get told that basically D-Day was done mainly by america, this was what my new american friend in university told me :P.

Oh wells, eitherway it should be changed… if EA did it to MOH then they should change something here, atleast with MOH they were using Taliban and to be completely honest, no one likes them so its nice to say “I killed the flipping taliban!!!!”

/end :D.
TBH, i was quite surprised by the assassination thing (even though its not him).

If someone was to do the equivalent with Obama they would be arrested and probably locked up.

Well, they did use Atom bombs …
We were busy with Germany while they were busy with Japan ( US is closer to Japan than UK :D )
Spoiler (highlight to reveal): You only assassinate a double
Yeah you probably would be locked up for advocating terrorism or something if you had something like that in it. And don't get me started on US glorification, you hear it all the time and I'm pretty sure everyone else outside of the US is well aware of it. Whether it's history, equipment or whatever they don't mind completely bending the facts to make them come out on top every time.
