Following Techland’s cock-up with the release of the PC version of Dead Island this week, the game’s publisher, Deep Silver, has confirmed that anyone affected may be compensated.

Dead Island was released in North America earlier this week, but Techland launched an early, incomplete version of the game via the digital distribution channel, Steam. A patch was released shortly after the error was flagged and Techland added the option to start at any chapter so that those who lost saved game data could pick up from where they left off.

Nonetheless, Techland and Deep Silver acknowledge that launching a development build of Dead Island instead of the retail version was a big mistake. Though neither company has confirmed what the compensation will be, those affected should keep an eye on the official website for updates.
