Before we into detail, we're afraid that the current announcement is for the US and Canada only, though, isn't it always when it comes to movie content? Fingers crossed the UK will see the new agreement between Google and Paramount Pictures expand to cover more regions in the near future.

The agreement will allow Google to bring to YouTube and the Android App Store, Google Play, over 500 new titles to its database in the coming weeks, "We now have five of the six major studios and over ten independent movie studios offering nearly 9,000 movies for rent to millions of people around the world. It's still early days for us, and we'll continue adding new titles and expanding our service to more countries this year." stated YouTube in a blog announcement.

The rental market is highly saturated and difficult to climb, however, Google and its YouTube service are making great strides, attempting to close what is a serious weakness in others sites, where only a subset of content is offered from certain studios. YouTube now receives an upload of one hour of video, every second and, with over four billion views a day is the the most successful media streaming service, ever.
