Benchmarks: Power Consumption
There's an immense amount of 3D performance on offer from the 3XS Carbon SLI, but hitting such heady heights does introduce a few drawbacks. Power consumption's one of them and when you consider that this system chews through 169 watts when it's doing nothing, you might decide not to run it 24/7.
No real surprises here, crank up the load on a 130-watt hexa-core processor and 2D power consumption gets close to 400 watts.
But this is what does the damage to the leccy bill. When playing Aliens vs. Predator - and spitting out insane frame rates, we should add - the dual-card, quad-GPU system pulled 739 watts from the wall.
