Final thoughts and rating

QNAP has come out all guns blazing with the TS-259 Pro+ Turbo NAS, and the end result is impressive.

Read and write performance is excellent across the board, and QNAP's extensive feature set is second to none. Coupled with a user interface that feels intuitive and streamlined, it makes for a compelling NAS package with only one notable drawback; price.

Fetching £475 at retail, the TS-259 Pro+ is one of the most expensive two-bay NAS solutions on the market and will likely appeal only to those who require its high-end business features.

For everyone else, the Synology DiskStation DS210+ consolidates performance and features to meet a more realistic £275 price tag.

The Good

Excellent read and write performance
Easy-to-use interface
Feature packed

The Bad

One of the most expensive two-bay NAS solutions on the market

How can anything with just 2 drive bays be classed as “Pro+” ?

The onlything really pro is the price at £475!

oh and does anyone else thing the admin interface looks a little bit like Joomla?
I've just picked up a Netgear Stora for £50 off Amazon (and a 2TB drive from Scan)… Seems with a little hacking you can do all sorts of funky stuff on it…

Should arrive tomorrow/friday which will leave me the weekend to hack (hopefully not brick) it.

I was going to just pickup a 2TB External drive for ~£100 but think this will be much better in both the short and long term.
