Specification

Synology's Disk Station DS-101g+ is the product we're taking a look at today. It is the successor to the Disk Station 101, which acted as a file server and backup server, also functioning as a print server. The DS-101g+ adds SATA support, an FTP server, web server and photo gallery. Before we take a look at the Disk Station DS-101g+, here are the vital specs:

A glance over the specs reveals the array of features that the Disk Station DS-101g+ has. Install a SATA drive inside the Disk Station and you still have room for an eSATA drive and three external USB 2.0 drives. Gigabit ethernet is good to see on the list, but I don't expect we'll be pushing the bandwidth limitations of a gigabit network at any stage during testing.

Enough mulling over the specs, let's see what the Disk Station is made of.
