Introduction

Most home users who want to connect multiple machines to the ‘net use some sort of proxy software. Usually this is something likeWingate or a variation of Windows’ inbuilt modem sharing. I was using this kind of setup too, but was getting increasingly frustrated by the setting up of ports, incompatibilities, and in some cases extra layer of client software on my machines. I also found Proxy systems a real pain to set up to allow connections in. When I wanted to allow my home network to pipe requests for data through selected ports to specific machines, proxy systems became unworkable. As I use a Cisco 800 router at work to connect our server to the net, I thought it would be nice to have a similar setup at home. Having done a bit of trawling on the net, I found Winroute by Tiny software.
