HEXUS Snapshot:

A different take on what a quality monitor should look like, we recommend trying the LightFrame 2 before laying down cold, hard cash.

Philips looks to offer a different proposition with its 23.6in LightFrame 2 monitor. Equipped with a bezel that glows a satisfying blue, and powered by a TN panel, the £200 screen puts aesthetics on an equal footing with image quality. We'd say that a comparable screen, sans the bezel, can be purchased for sub-£150, so the extra outlay is dependent on how much you value that blue glow. We like the idea but would encourage Philips to shoehorn in an IPS panel into a 'LightFrame 3'.

A different take on what a quality monitor should look like, we recommend trying the LightFrame 2 before laying down cold, hard cash. We reckon it's the Marmite of the monitor world: you'll either love it or fail to comprehend what all the fuss is about.

The Good

That blue glow
Decent colour reproduction
Bright, high-contrast image

The Bad

Below-average viewing angles
Price could be an issue

Like your desktop, your bezel should be grey… Or you can choose a leafy green to balance your rods and cones activity which is more restful for the eye.
I can't imagine playing Amnesia with a nice light blue around the outside the screen!
half-ass-reviews-r-us!
I dont like that giant blue Bezel shining in my face,
However I guess you cant pass judgement on anything until you've tried it yourself
What a load of old toilet. Philips didn't learn with the commercial disaster that was Ambilight, so they pedal out this old crock.

It's a pointless gimmick, propped up by groundless pseudo medical mumbo jumbo. Utter twaddle.

Make it go away, and the berk who invented it.
