Introduction

We have run tests on many socket motherboards. This is our first board from SOLTEK it is based on the VIA KT133 Chipset, It is the best Via Chipset so far, but it is missing one vital thing, multiplier adjustment. Companies such as ABIT have developed Software BIOS’s, which let you adjust these, and also UDMA 100 Support. So have SOLTEK.

Even though they aren't well know this motherboard from SOLTEK is a gem, a jewel in the crown. ABIT should watch out for SOLTEK!

This board is an update on the SL75KV since the old board there has been 2 major changes to the board, the first that I spotted after about 2 seconds of looking at the board was that of Dipswitches. These allow the adjustment of the multiplier on the CPU. The SL75KV used the KT133 chipset and it still has the AGP Pro, which was on this board, however, this board has only one serial port, but there is an extra external serial port, which can plug in to the motherboard. But not everyone needs this I only use on Serial port. Another thing which SOLTEK haven’t done nor did ABIT and I missed this and this was the 4 Dimm slots, it only has 3 even though the KT133 chipset supports it, so in theory you can have 1.5GB of ram if you are that power mad.

There are 2 small heat sinks above the Processor this is to cool down the step ups for the cpu as this point gets hot on the mainboard, but it is interesting to see that SOLTEK didn’t need the extra "fan" on the Northbridge chip.
