The card itself is a near identical copy of the reference board, only deviating from that design visually in terms of the stickers on the heatsink and fan. While it'd be nice to see a different cooler, the reference cooler seems to do a mighty fine job, so we can't really berate ASUS too much. Whispers on the wind point to new coolers for their X800 range in the future, as they get more time to develop something, but at the moment retail boards are paired with what you see in the above photograph.

Peeking round the back doesn't show anything untoward, the card a reference design through and through, even down to the Samsung K4J55323QF GDDR3 DRAMs. They're the GC20 variant, 2.0ns and good for 1000MHz DDR.

As you can see from the shots, ASUS haven't equipped the AX800PRO/TD/P with a pair of DVI ports, instead giving the board the usual DVI, S-Video and analogue VGA outputs. Outputs gives the game away with regards to VIVO, the board not coming equipped with VIVO in this iteration, a VTD product denomination required for that.

To mark the board out, despite using the reference cooler, ASUS have placed blue LEDs in the fan assembly that shine brightly when the board has full power.

As far as clocks go, ASUS don't deviate from the reference spec either, the review sample arriving clocked, according to Powerstrip, within a margin of error compared to the 475/900 reference clocks. More on that later.

Time to examine the bundle and general presentation.
