Final thoughts

The Phantom's huge heatsink, novel fan placement and decent out-of-the-box frequencies combine to offer overall performance that's at the cutting-edge for single-GPU cards.

We can certainly make a case for the GTX 780 Phantom GLH being the best-performing card in Gainward's arsenal, and not the reference-like Titan. The Phantom's huge heatsink, novel fan placement and decent out-of-the-box frequencies combine to offer overall performance that's at the cutting-edge for single-GPU cards.

Priced at £570 and, like other GTX 780s, soon to be bundled with Batman: Arkham Origins, our only concern, for those looking at this end of the market, is that Palit offers comparable performance for less money, enabling you to buy a quality game or two - though it's a win-win situation as Gainward is a subsidiary of Palit.

Our final advice is simple: if you're in the market for a high-performance graphics card and can justify spending £500-plus on one, Gainward's GeForce GTX 780 Phantom GLH really ought to be on your shortlist.

The Good

Decent out-of-the-box frequencies
Quiet under load
Titan-like performance for less money

The Bad

Memory doesn't overclock too far
A tad expensive

Good to see it beat the titian by a fair few frames in most games!
“hidden under the 10.5in-wide heatsink” on the first page that should be long not wide.
Great card, and I love the look of phantom!
Very good to see such low noise levels from such a beast of a card. Whetted my appetite for an upgrade, that's for sure :)
Had the 570 Phantom many many moons ago. Excellent cooler and great card!
If only the budget allowed :/
