Acer has launched a new Predator gaming desktop PC which it refers to as an "Unstoppable Fighting Machine". It certainly sounds powerful and packs the latest and most powerful 'Skylake' Intel Core i7-6700K CPU, as launched yesterday and reviewed by HEXUS, amongst its choice components.

The Acer Predator G6-710 was unveiled at Gamescom and marks the first in a new range of Predator desktops. We are told that further models will be launched at IFA in September. The first thing which you notice about the new Predator is its "belligerent armour design," which makes it as exciting to see as it is exciting for the tech inside, says Acer. As with many gaming case designs consumer feeling will probably be split, Marmite fashion.

As mentioned in the intro, Acer's new gaming PC yields the power of the new 6th Gen Intel Core i7-6700K CPU. To conveniently make the most of the 'K' series processor Acer has implemented a 'One-Punch' CPU overclocking facitity, combined with its own IceTunnel cooling system to ensure grace under pressure. The Predator Sense control hub offers full running stats such as CPU clock rate, temperature, and fan speed, plus tweaking controls for lighting, fan speeds and the CPU overclock level.

The PC maker has boldly equipped the Predator G6-710 with 64GB of DDR4 RAM to "futureproof the G6-710 against new game releases," and facilitate compute-intensive multitasking. Acer has chosen to fit the Predator G6-710 with Nvidia's recently succeeded flagship consumer card, the GeForce GTX 980. The component combo so far should be good for venturing into 4K gaming. Acer suggests you pair this PC with a curved G-SYNC monitor such as the Acer Predator X34 with a resolution of 3440x1440 pixels.

Looking at other important specs for this system Acer has chosen to install a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi MB5 for optimum gaming, video and audio enjoyment. Storage options range up to 12TB in HDDs plus 512GB of SSD space. Acer includes a SteelSeries APEX RAW keyboard and SteelSeries Sensei RAW gaming mouse with the desktop.

Inside the system are the following expansion slots: 1 x PCI-E X16 slot, 2 x PCI-E X1 slots, 2 x M.2 slots. Users have plenty of USB sockets for peripherals: 6 x USB 3.0/ 2 x USB 2.0. Windows 10 is pre-installed.

Acer says that the Predator G6-710 gaming desktop PC will be available from mid-September in Europe priced from €1,999. The Intel Core i7-6700K CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 are equipped in the top spec configuration.

It looks like a douchebag teenage Darth Vader
Obviously the styling needs little comment. :ill:

Is that a hard drive hot-swap bay in the 2nd 5.25" slot? That would be a welcome addition to a consumer system… unless it's pre-occupied of course! I've no idea what the slot under the USB ports either.

Clearly the RAM is stupid given the target audience, and horribly unbalanced, but at least it's too much rather than too little as is the norm. I assume it's customisable with lower amounts anyway.
The front case looks ugly to me -my opinion thooo~~

it's a place to hang your gaming headset based on the images lol
I actually quite like the case. It's a welcome change from the plain black boxes we all seem to be using these days, I say this whilst looking down at my plain black box 650D. It's pretty aggressive, and I wonder long those pull down port covers will last.

As for the spec, nothing the average gamer or pro gamer will run is going to require 64 gigs of ram. Seems that money could have been spent on a GTX 980 ti as opposed to a vanilla 980.
