It's coming up to a year since we first examined Sapphire's Edge-HD mini PC, but if the Intel Atom + NVIDIA ION combination wasn't tickling your fancy, you might appreciate the 2012 refresh.
The updated system - dubbed the Edge-HD3 - still looks a lot like the original, and it's every bit as tiny at just 193mm x 148mm x 22mm in size, but it's being revamped on the inside to become an all-AMD affair.
We caught a glimpse of the upcoming PC back at CES in January, but it has since made its way through the FCC, and the associated paperwork has confirmed that the machine will carry a 1.65GHz AMD E-450 APU with integrated Radeon HD 6320 graphics.
The dual-core, 18W chip is seemingly ideal for HTPC environments, and Sapphire rounds out the specification with a 2.5in hard disk (in either 250GB, 320GB and 500GB capacities), 4GB of memory, Gigabit Ethernet, built-in Wireless N connectivity and a couple of USB 3.0 ports.
Sounds promising, and if Sapphire's earlier indications hold true, the Edge-HD3 should arrive at stores later this month.
