Even though Chrome has managed to claim a nice little corner of the browser market, we'd guess that it's still struggling to penetrate the business sector. Google's hoping that this will start to change soon, though, with the introduction of a number of enterprise-focussed updates for its browser that might tempt admins into making the switch.

The biggest changes are a new MSI installer and support for managed group policies. The former will allow businesses that use standard deployment tools to easy install Chrome for all users. Managed group policies - along with a ready-made list of policies and a series of templates - will enable admins to easily set browser settings which should help to keep a check on both security and privacy.

Any businesses looking to switch over to Chrome can obviously do so for free, although technical support via phone and e-mail is only available to Google Apps for Business customers. There are more details available on the Chrome for Business site, along with links to download the MSI installer.

On a significantly more charitable note, Google is using its browser to help spread some good will over the Christmas sesason. For every tab you open between now and December 19, Google will donate to one of your choice of five charitable foundations. Opening ten tabs will amount to a tree being planted or a book donated, 25 will earn someone a vaccination, 100 will help a square foot of shelter to be built and 200 tabs can provide a person with clean water for a whole year.

To participate, all you have to do is download an extension which will track how many tabs you open, and then ask you to 'donate' them to a cause at the end of each day.

We're doing our part
