Skype has made available a beta version of Skype 4.0, and it promises to be "something big".

As it turns out, they weren't. Skype 4.0 is a full-screen app, and though I've not used Skype for a while, this is a whole lot bigger than anything I remember.

One advantage of the larger-than-expected client, however, is bigger and better video calls. Skype 4.0 offers full-screen video calls, with picture-in-picture functionality.

It's a very early beta, but the Skype team says "we’re so excited about it we can't keep it to ourselves any longer". If you fancy putting it to the test and seeing what else is new, head on over to the Beta download page, and let us know how you get on in the HEXUS forums.
