Today high-performance PC component and accessory company Corsair has announced a new range of fully-modular PSUs. The new range, christened the RM Series, takes over from where the TX Series left off and adds 80 PLUS Gold level energy efficiency, “whisper-quiet operation” and real-time monitoring capability to the product mix.

Corsair’s new RM Series has been designed to remain exceptionally quiet even when under demanding power conditions. The firm builds these PSUs with “low-noise capacitors and transformers,” furthermore a “Zero RPM Fan Mode” only requires the fan to spin up under the heaviest of loads. Under most day-to-day usage this facilitates “near silent operation,” we are told.

Example RM Series fan noise and efficiency profiles

The 80 PLUS Gold level energy efficiency of the RM Series helps prevent energy waste with these PSUs offering energy efficiency of up to 90 per cent (92 per cent on 230V AC). Corsair also informs us that the supplies are all compatible with the latest Ivy Bridge E and Haswell processors.

As mentioned in the intro the RM Series is fully modular, you just plug in the cables which are required by the components in your system. The cables supplied are of the low profile type, which further help facilitate a cooler and quieter running system.

The RM1000 includes the Corsair Digital Bridge cable (an optional accessory with the other PSUs in the range). Using this connection to hook up your motherboard or Corsair Link hub gives a user real-time monitoring of fan speed and +12V power delivery via Corsair Link software.

The new RM Series power supplies, with capacities ranging from 450 to 1000 watts, are available immediately. Suggested prices range from $99.99 for a 450-watt RM Series PSU to $199.99 for the 1,000-watt version (see the table below). These PSUs are all covered by Corsair’s limited 5-year warranty.

And, I'll still buy Seasonic!
With only a two year warranty I won't be buying seasonic. I'm happy with my HX750 and its seven year warranty.
Welcome news, this looks like an excellent product!
Interesting product, but as above hx series or even tx series is already amazing, quite etc, so except design how much of a real improvement this offers?
Looks good. You can't go wrong with a Corsair PSU. Antec, BeQuiet and OCZ PSU's are also very good in my experience.
