AORUS has launched a pair of specialised PC gaming peripherals today; the Thunder K7 Detachable Mechanical Keyboard & Thunder M7 MMO Mouse. These peripherals are part of the AORUS thrust to "bring the highest level of gaming gear to all gamers". Let's have a look at what is on offer here.

AORUS Thunder K7 Detachable Mechanical Keyboard

The keyboard is said to be the "world's first detachable mechanical gaming keyboard" with its 80/20 split between main keyboard and macro/numpad. The keyboard is "built for hardcore gamers engaging in all pc game genres". As you can see, the macro/numpad can be detached from the main keyboard. It offers 20 customisable macro keys which also allow on-the-fly programming. AORUS also suggests that it can be detached to provide FPS gamers a compact keyboard with full sized keys. I'm not left handed but imagine that being able to position the macro/numpad to the left of the main keyboard might also be useful for our sinistral friends.

Looking at the keyboard hardware components, AORUS has equipped the Thunder K7 with Cherry Red mechanical key switches with anti-ghosting matrix design. Also users can enjoy the intuitive wheel based volume and backlit illumination controls built into this keyboard.

AORUS Thunder M7 MMO Gaming Mouse

The Thunder M7 is said to be specially designed for MMO/MOBA gaming. AORUS emphasises the component mix on offer being perfect for this kind of gaming activity. The cluster of eight thumb buttons offer "instant execution of the gaming commands". This bank of eight offers 16 programmable buttons via the bank switching keys atop the mouse. You also get a profile switch to choose between five gaming profiles and in all 70 macros can be stores on-board.

The ergonomically designed "sports car look," the Thunder M7 also has a high spec laser sensor supporting up to 8200dpi resolution and 150ips tracking speed. The DPI is switchable between the following resolutions 800/1600/3200/5600DPI. The main left/right mouse buttons use Omron 10 million click lifetime switches.

Oooo i like. My desk space is minimal so have the option to shorten things would be ideal
mechanical?
I'm a big fanboy of the ‘Mouse Of Many Buttons’… but as usual, this looks like they've put everything on the thumb and index finger. :(

It also looks like they've ripped off a few Roccat designs.
Urgh reds….

I like blacks, i like browns and i like blues but just cant get on with reds.

I currently use a semi-10 keyless keyboard and its actually a much more comfortable working position as your hands can be closer together. I also have a cherry compact keyboard that has a slightly different key layout which is also a lot more comfortable. I can definitely see the benefit of moving the 10Key out the way and putting it back when you need it. Cant help the feeling the current devices i have are actually a better solution though.
