ASUS has announced the Designo MX25AQ ultra-slim, frameless monitor. Described as a "true work of art," this 25-inch AH-IPS monitor boasts an LED backlit 2560 x 1440 WQHD resolution display and a bezel thickness of just 1mm. It is currently available in the UK priced around £300.

Key hardware specifications of the ASUS Designo MX25AQ are as follows:

  • Display: Wide Screen 25"(63.5cm) 16:9, 100% (sRGB), AH-IPS panel, 2560x1440 resolution, 300cd/m3 brightness, 5ms response time, 50 – 75Hz refresh rate
  • Audio: 3W x 2 Stereo RMS
  • I/O ports: HDMI x 2, HDMI/MHL, DisplayPort 1.2, 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Power: <34W (based on EnergyStar 6.0 standard) while on, <0.5W while in power saving or off modes
  • Dimensions: with Stand (WxHxD): 570.9 x 404.7 x 225.4mm, 4.2Kg
  • In the box: power cord, power adapter, HDMI cable, quick start guide, warranty card

As well as the above hardware specs potential buyers should consider the plethora of ASUS enhanced features. As those familiar with ASUS monitors might expect this new Designo MX25AQ comes with ASUS Eye Care technology which provides a blue light filter function and flicker free imagery.

ASUS SplendidPlus Video Intelligence Technology enhances colour, brightness, contrast, and sharpness to match eight pre-set modes (Reading , Darkroom, Scenery, Night View, Theatre, Game, sRGB and Standard). Furthermore ASUS VividPixel Technology helps enhance image outlines and reduce noise bars.

Interestingly a QuickFit Virtual Scale hotkey can be used to preview documents in actual size before printing. ASUS MultiFrame desktop window management software is supported. Monitor audio output is enhanced with ASUS SonicMaster audio technology, Audio Wizard and Bang & Olufsen ICEpower.

Gaming isn't neglected with the Gaming mode present, which doesn't just adjust the monitor display but also "enhances in-game sound effects and vocals to add a new level of immersion to your gaming experience". ASUS GamePlus adds both crosshair (4 types) and timer functions.

As mentioned in the intro, the ASUS Designo MX25AQ is available immediately. You can grab one at several retailers I checked with in the UK, priced from just under £300.

Hardware crosshair = Sniper cheat mode. Why do it?
Ā£900 for 3 of em that's a helluva setup…
No VESA - Why are Asus and ACER making this mistake???? 3 in surround would be the perfect reason for zero Bezel, but unless you can mount them on a bracket, that's a lot of desktop real estate you've just lost!
Gotta agree the exclusion of a vesa mount is a strange move.

For me and I reckon more than a few this isn't a deal breaker - mounting 1 screen to a wall isn't a big deal, but putting 3 up seems a bit of a mission. Having 3 on a decent sized desk however seems like a way better method. IMO of course
