Lenovo has launched a new Yoga series laptop aimed at professional content creators. The ThinkPad P40 Yoga is an ISV-certified mobile workstation which could find favour with professionals who enjoy using a stylus to bring their ideas to life, thanks to its Wacom Active ES technology equipped screen. Lenovo's latest workstation machine offers core specs such as a 6th gen (Skylake) Intel Core i7 processor, an Nvidia Quadro M500M (Maxwell) GPU (2GB) and up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.

The Lenovo ThinkPad P40 Yoga is attempting to mix "Workstation Power with Tablet Convenience". Enhancing its weight and slimness, important for its use as a tablet and in being truly portable, Lenovo has constructed the P40 using carbon fibre and magnesium alloy. It is the thinnest and lightest ThinkPad mobile workstation ever at just 19.9mm thick and 1.8Kg. Despite its thin and light nature this laptop has been "torture tested to be ThinkPad tough" and has passed MIL-SPEC testing.

Concentrating on this device's unique selling proposition, as compared with other workstation laptops, Lenovo talks a lot about the sketching and drafting functionality on offer here. The 14-inch high-resolution (2560 x 1440) IPS display offers "superior sketching" with its 2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity via the ThinkPad Pen Pro with Wacom Active ES technology. Users can choose between two pen designs and a variety of pen tips. With or without the pen you can still enjoy the convenience of 10-point multi-touch access.

Autodesk industrial designer and strategic content manager, Kyle Runciman, shared his thoughts about the utility value of the Lenovo ThinkPad P40 Yoga; "Designers can sketch for months to hone their ideas, and when they do get them to a point where they feel they're ready for prime time, they can benefit from a separate, ISV-certified mobile workstation to visualize the designs. The ability to perform all of these capabilities on a single machine is huge for our industry."

Lenovo will sell the ThinkPad P40 Yoga starting from $1399. It will become available in Q1 next year via Lenovo.com direct and from its business partners.
