MSI has launched a new range of laptops called the Prestige Series. These are aimed at "business elites and professionals". The new "simple yet sophisticated" laptop models are influenced by "high-precision instrument" design with clean metallic exteriors and white backlighting in the interior. Hardware specs are pretty high-end, with all models powered by an Intel Core i7-4720HQ paired with either an Nvidia GTX960M or GTX950M GPU. MSI also emphasises the non-glare screen quality on these laptop models – available in either 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch sizes.

There are four new SKUs, as follows:

  • The MSI PE60 2QE is a 15.6-inch FHD or 4K screened model with Intel Core i7-4720HQ CPU and an Nvidia GTX960M GPU with 2GB GDDR5.
  • The MSI PE60 2QD is a 15.6-inch FHD or 4K screened model with Intel Core i7-4720HQ CPU and an Nvidia GTX950M GPU with 2GB GDDR5.
  • The MSI PE70 2QE is a 17.3-inch FHD screened model with Intel Core i7-4720HQ CPU and an Nvidia GTX960M GPU with 2GB GDDR5.
  • The MSI PE70 2QD is a 17.3-inch FHD screened model with Intel Core i7-4720HQ CPU and an Nvidia GTX950M GPU with 2GB GDDR5.

A lot of the professional market claims from MSI emanate from the "close to 100 per cent sRGB" reproduction with MSI True Colour Technology. It says that work shared by designers can now be confidently edited without worry about colour distortion issues. The screens in these laptops are factory calibrated and profiled. The Prestige Series supports output at 4K (3840 x 2160) with 60Hz through the Mini DisplayPort.

Of course the laptops hold more widespread appeal than just professionals in colour sensitive content creation industries. The displays also excel at multimedia entertainment, says MSI. For this kind of activity the built-in Nahimic Sound Technology comes into play to provide enhanced immersion, realism, excitement and recording quality. Nahimic audio quality is relied upon in "military and the aeronautics industries where the clarity of sound is essential and vital," MSI informs us. Speakers in the laptops are made by DynAudio.

Other important features include SHIFT technology to quickly switch between three power profiles and the CoolerBoost 3 dual cooling system to help your machine stay at peak performance when it is needed most.

Pricing and availability of the MSI Prestige Range is yet to be revealed.

As a business elite, what kind of businessmonkey wants a 17" laptop that weighs the same as a house?
Business elite = a thin, light 12/13 incher.

Typically a ibm/lenovo x series.
Also - for most general business use - discrete gfx are overkill/battery-eaters
Ignoring brand etc they'd be deemed chunky even as a mobile workstation.

MSI haven't been following current trends… high class business people will be going for thin light, well branded and classy looking laptops (ie expensive over power :))

So what do MSI do… they release a chunky ‘metallic’ laptop that looks like it's half plastic…these aren't going to sell well lol
Remove bling from gaming laptop. Market it as being dual purpose gaming or business use in a less fashionable but more serviceable chassis. Nothing wrong here except they will overprice it and come up with some nonsense about business elites which amounts to the exact same premium pricing they reserve for gamers.

MSI marketing would like to remind you that you are special and therefore worth it.
