The HP 810 EliteBook Revolve is an ultra-thin notebook, with a screen that rotates to become a tablet, first announced around a year ago. That G1 model hit the shelves back in March and today Hewlett Packard has unveiled an updated HP 810 EliteBook Revolve G2 model.

There are not really any major changes to the exterior of the HP 810 Revolve; it is 16.1 per cent thinner (at 22.2mm) and 7.3 per cent lighter (at 1.4Kg) than the previous version but still designed to be the same heavy-duty machine - gaining a MIL-STG 810G rating for rugged durability. It has also kept the scratch-resistance Gorilla Glass 3 and spill resistant backlit keyboard.

On the inside however, HP has upgraded the G2 with fourth-generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 ULT dual-core processor, depending on configuration, and it also loads this tablet PC with the newest Widows 8.1 OS. This makes the G2 an all-round better performer with longer battery life, as expected with the combination of its Haswell chip and ULV (Ultre Low Voltage) processor that will help keeping the machine cool and running for longer on battery. The G2 sports an 11.6-inch anti-glare touch-screen with a resolution of 1366x768. An Intel HD Graphics 4400 processor pushes the pixels around.

An updated pen is also added to the G2 that, according to HP, offers better accuracy. However the new pen technology will not be compatible with the G1 which is unfortunate for users who own the first-gen notebook. There is also no place designed to store or attach the pen to the notebook when not in use.

An optional 4G LTE configuration is offered to those users who rely on mobile broadband connectivity and this tablet PC can be ready quickly when you need it - in 5 milliseconds – thanks to Rapid Start Technology. It also comes with up to 12GB of DDR3L PC3-12800 SDRAM at 1,600MHz (one slot has 4GB soldered in) and a 256GB SSD.

Prices will start at $1,364 depending on configuration and it will hit US shelves at the end of December (UK prices and release dates yet to be confirmed).
