Dell has launched a couple of new notebooks at CES 2009, and we're actually excited about both.

First off, Dell is augmenting its Mini 9 and Mini 12, released late last year, with the Mini 10, but there's more than just a difference in screen size this time around.

The Mini 10 uses an Intel Atom Z530 (Silverthorne) CPU instead of the higher-power, widely-used N270 (Diamondville) found in most netbooks.

Mini 10 betters the Mini 9 in a number of ways, from what we can tell. A higher-resolution screen, capable of 720p, built-in TV tuner, built-in 3G/WWAN, GPS, 802.11n, and multi-touch pad, for starters.

It will be available in eight colours and should be out to buy by March, we believe.

Dell will have three netbooks in its portfolio soon enough, then, with the Mini 10 ensconsced between the Mini 9 and Mini 12.

The second, soon-to-be-available notebook is the Adamo, which is a put forward as an Apple MacBook Air-killer, sporting a wonderfully thin LCD and sleek chassis.

We'll have pictures for both soon, but it looks like Dell has some tasty kit coming out in Q1 2009.

What kind of TV tuner? DVB-T would be cool, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Battery life and price will probably determine just how good this is.
I've been hanging off upgrading my EeePC 4G until there's one released with a decent screen res, like the HP 2133. (The HP has been too expensive and the Via chip doesn't cut much muster).

This looks promising, as long as they get the price point right - around 250 would do it.
It has a 720p screen but will it be powerful enough to actually playback HD content smoothly?
I think they can manage 720p just about.

One example of an atom doing just that

Looking forward to seeing what my MSI can do when overclocked to 2.0Ghz :p
