ASUS ROG has announced a new 27-inch monitor called the ROG Swift PG278Q Premium Gaming Monitor. The Swift PG278Q is "designed to deliver the ultimate gaming experience," and leverages a high resolution fast response panel with both ASUS GamePlus and Nvidia G-SYNC technologies.

Motion blur, lag, tearing and stuttering graphics due to your monitor will be a thing of the past with the new Swift PG278Q, says ASUS. In this world's first WQHD monitor with Nvidia G-SYNC the refresh rates are synchronised with the GPU to "deliver the smoothest gaming experience possible".

ASUS also includes its own GamePlus technology. This is an OSD overlay which allows users to choose from four different crosshair types to compliment your gaming environment. Also GamePlus includes a timer function to help you hone your real-time strategy skills.

As you can see above spec list there is just the single DisplayPort 1.2 connector with which to attach your monitor to your graphics card. A DisplayPort cable is included to attach to your G-SYNC compatible graphics cards which need to be a GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost or better. ASUS describes the TN panel it has chosen for this monitor as a "premium panel... of very high quality". Availability is scheduled within the next few months.

ASUS also release a $799 28-inch 4K monitor

In other ASUS monitor news PCMag reports that the Asus PB287Q 28-inch UHD/4K monitor with a 3,840 by 2,160 resolution was also launched at the CES. This monitor has inputs including HDMI, HDMI/MHL, and DisplayPort 1.2 as well as stereo speakers. It will be available from Q2 2014 at a price rivalling the Lenovo ThinkVision Pro 2840m we saw previously.

Any idea on pricing, looks very tempting specwise.
At a guess, that's a £450 monitor.

+ the GSYNC premium of whatever Nvidia wants
We still don't know what the Panel is thought ? Many saying it could be a new TN panel (@ 1440p) rather than a nice IPS ?… Will have to wait to find out more…
