Aluminium PC case specialist Lian Li has announced that the cube shaped PC-V358 chassis will be available shortly in Europe. This is an interesting case design which offers a flip-open-from-the-front design for ease of access. It is also a double width case which “can accommodate an impressive amount of hardware for its size”. The chassis is available in black (PC-V358B) or silver (PC-V358A) finishes and can accommodate either Micro-ATX or Mini-ITX motherboards.

As listed above in the specifications table, there are two 120mm fans behind the front case grille which uses a dust filter to minimise dust deposits inside the machine. Also to help keep things cool the side panel next to the graphics cards area is perforated and the other side of the case can support two 120mm fans or one 240mm water-cooling radiator on a hinged support. A single 120mm fan at the rear of the case expels the warmed air.

The front of the case flips down with a hinge at the base of the cube. We saw this same concept teased by Lian Li earlier this year, albeit on a small regular width Mini-ITX chassis. To open up the chassis the side panels are remove toollessly, then the removal of three thumbscrews allows you swing the chassis front down to give easy access to its innards.

The inner space in the PC-V358 chassis forms two distinct compartments (heat zones); in the upper half of the case you can access your motherboard, graphics card and 2.5-inch drives, beneath this platform you will find the space for the power supply and 3.5-inch drives.

The PC-V358 has a recommended retail price of £118 and “will be available shortly in Europe”.

I will never understand the trend to take mATX/mITX components and put them in huge boxes big enough for full ATX rigs….
Am I the only one who would like to see some cube-shaped cases like this but capable of taking a full atx motherboard? They're so much easier to fit into furniture and shelving. A tower case basically just fits underneath a desk or on one.

(What!? Who said gamers can't enjoy interior design too?)

Check out the Haf XB, really nice case to build in too. Did a build this weekend in one.
That's a really tight squeeze with the 240mm radiator…
Looks great. Glad Lian Li pays attention to all the small details such as being truly toolless and offering rubber washers for every screw. I wish Scan stocked more Lian Li cases.
