Chassis manufacturers yearning for eclectic models go to some lengths to differentiate their wares from the competition.

Take a gander at the SilverStoneTek Raven for confirmation.

Grrr, I'm hard, is what it would say if the Raven could speak.

SilverStone is aiming the Raven - part of a matching range that includes a mouse - at the enthusiast whose budget is around the £75 mark.

The plastic surround is reminiscent of a Transformer, and the front portion, hiding the 5.25in bays, slides down in super-smooth fashion.

Inside, though, it's a steel affair, but with a twist...

Note how everything has been rotated 90 degrees to the right? SilverStone reckons that this arrangement is better-suited to cooling hot-running components in an efficient manner. After all, hot air rises.

A couple of 180mm fans are positioned at the bottom, just above the PSU, and blow a steady stream of cool air over the graphics cards and memory.

Interestingly, the hard-drive caddies can be one-touch removed and feature internal connectors that enable hot-swapability.

Expect to see this beast on the shelves in August/September this year.

Rotating everything inside 90* - whilst a nice idea, is gonna cause some issues….especially as, as I discovered with my inverted lian li case, some graphics card fans are designed to hang up-side down….if you run them the wrong way up or at an angle the fan chews itself to death…. :/
Nice idea - will be interesting to see what people make of it, especially as presumably it means you'd have a load of leads and cables sticking out of the top of your case…

Hard to see from the pictures what sort of aesthetic affect this will have, but I know that, personally, The back of my case looks a state and I wouldn't want that on display!

Does anyone sell DVI cables with right-angle connectors? That would be a start…

Well that's just an utterly cack cooler design.
IGNORE THIS COMMENT - only leaving because robg1701 has commented on it..

stick a large cpu cooler in there and then try sticking in a new hard drive, then call silverstone idiots.. you'd have to remove cooler to get to them.. who wants to do that?

bet they forgot about that little detail when thinking of this ‘wonderful idea’…
The hard drive caddies look to come out the side…the CPU fan would in no way hinder them ?
