PRESS RELEASE

IP68 dust and water proof portability with up to 1TB for high speed game storage expansion

Taipei, Taiwan – Mar. 21, 2017 – ADATA Technology, a leading manufacturer of high performance DRAM modules, NAND Flash products, and mobile accessories today launched the XPG SD700X external SSD. Built tough to IEC IP68 dust and water proofing standards, the drive is also military-grade shockproof. Available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of 3D TLC NAND, the gaming-styled SD700X works in plug n play via USB 3.1 with Windows, Xbox One, PS4, and Android to provide instant access to additional storage. At 440MB/s read and write it is over four times faster than an external HDD, resulting in shorter game load times and smoother gameplay.

Dust, water, and shock proof portability

The SD700X is based on the ADATA SD700 external SSD, which has won a prestigious iF Design Award. It likewise meets IEC IP68 standards for complete dust-tight protection and withstanding 60 minute immersion in 1.5m-deep water. For gamers on the go or at home, the SD700X offers a rugged but stylish storage option that keeps precious games safe even in the event of spills, dust exposure, or drops, as it also meets US Army MIL-STD-810G 516.6 requirements.

3D NAND opens up bigger capacities

ADATA and XPG are moving exclusively to 3D NAND Flash, which is more durable and noticeably faster than 2D NAND. Stacked Flash also enables higher densities (capacities) without a rise in cost. Thus, the SD700X features 3D TLC NAND and up to 1TB – which is enough for dozens of large PC or console games in the 30GB-50GB range. Gamers can also opt for 256GB and 512GB versions.

Four times faster than hard drives

Reaching 440MB/s and sustaining max speeds thanks to DRAM cache and SLC caching, the SD700X easily outmatches even the speediest spin drive. Compared to HDDs (like the internal storage used by consoles), the SD700X is at least four times faster. Gamers can notice a minimum 20% reduction in loading times, plus smoother asset streaming in-play for a more pleasant and disruption-free experience. And unlike external HDD storage expansion, the SD700X is totally silent, cool, and vastly more resilient thanks to omitting moving parts.
