PRESS RELEASE

New Product to be Showcased at Cisco Live Event in London

Paessler AG, the innovative network monitoring solutions specialist, today announced the availability of version 9.2 of its PRTG Network Monitor software. Key enhancements include complete VMware 5 support and a full rewrite of the Mobile Web GUI, which is now optimised for browsers on all common mobile operating systems. Also new are several improved sensors, including a chromium-based full Web page sensor that improves website loading time measurements, and additional AJAX Web GUI features and improvements.

The new version, which Paessler will showcase this month at Cisco Live in London (January 30-February 3), includes more than 400 improvements. Significantly, PRTG 9.2 now supports VMware 5, which addresses ESX 5, Virtual Center 5, and even viewing VMs which are located in vApps. Another important enhancement is its rewritten Mobile Web GUI based on jQuery Mobile 1.0, which supports a variety of mobile devices and enables PRTG's web interface to be viewed on virtually any mobile web browser. Among the supported platforms are iOS 3.2+, Android 2.1+/Honeycomb, BlackBerry 6+, Windows Phone 7+, WebOS 1.4+, Meego, Kindle 3+, Firefox Mobile and Opera Mobile 11+.

"Virtualization has been a continious trend in 2011 and a growing number of our customers who already use PRTG to monitor their virtual environment are upgrading to vSphere 5," says Dirk Paessler, founder and CEO at Paessler. "Our customers want the ability to include these systems in their monitoring to ensure system operability, and PRTG is able to grow with their demands."

Paessler continues, "At the same time, the use of smart phones continues to grow at a rapid rate and our customers require the flexibility of being able to monitor their network while on the go.  They need to have the capability to monitor their network's health any time, and to react much faster to monitoring alarms. Full VMware 5 support and PRTG Version 9.2's new Mobile Web GUI meet these requirements and further support our aim to offer our customers a comprehensive, powerful, yet easy-to-use network monitoring solution."

Version 9.2 also offers a WMI time sensor to measure the time difference between the system clock of a target device and the PRTG system, which can trigger an immeditate alarm when detecting any inconsistencies. Correct time settings for all clients are important, for example, to ensure consistent storage of log files and other time-critical data, or for the correct functionality of scheduled tasks, etc. Another improvement makes the measurement of web page loading times more reliable and quick to set up. The rewritten "HTTP Full Web Page Sensor" can now use the Open Source "WebKit" engine and allows loading time monitoring without the need to have Internet Explorer installed.

PRTG 9.2's AJAX Web GUI enhancements include new navigatable "breadcrumbs," which save the user time by navigating through the device tree even quicker, as well as an easier, rewritten sensor selection, that is shown when creating reports. Nested groups for libraries let the user create custom tree views that are even more flexible, and extended management tab functionalities allow multi-edit of object settings in an efficient and intuitive manner.
