PRESS RELEASE

  • Western European monitor market growth for six quarters in a row - AOC and Philips monitors outperform the market by six per cent in the third quarter 2014
  • Despite challenges in some Eastern European markets AOC and Philips monitors continue their very successful development and have outperformed the European market now for more than ten quarters in a row
  • Within the last five years the two monitor specialists together have tripled their market share - which results in a leading position in Europe

Amsterdam, 12 January 2015: After a positive to stable development in the first two quarters in 2014, the European market for monitors had to face a minor decrease as the market in some Eastern European countries is still challenging. In total, however, the European market 2014 was stable compared to the previous year.

Despite these challenging surroundings in some markets, AOC and MMD, license partner for Philips monitors, continued successfully in their growth strategy and achieved further positive development in their market shares. AOC and MMD are subsidiaries of the world's leading display manufacturer TPV.

"We are very satisfied and proud that our continuous focus on innovation and our customer centric approach shows its positive results in our market shares", comments Thomas Schade, Vice President EMEA at AOC and MMD, the results which are proven by the latest market figures of analyst firm Context. "With both our brands - AOC and Philips - we deliver innovative products and solutions which fulfil customers' needs in all segments of the market. In combination with our sales and marketing strategy this leads to the success which is now underlined by these excellent results in market share", adds Schade.

The success in the overall market was accompanied by a very positive development in the growing segment of 27" monitors. Compared to the third quarter in 2013, the two brands together again increased their market share in the third quarter 2014. This leads to a joint Number 1 position for Philips and AOC in this segment.

"Our aim is always to drive the market with innovation and to be in the forefront of a development. Very early we invested in the segment of large screens and higher resolutions, which increase the users' productivity. Now we can see that our forward looking strategy pays off", says Thomas Schade.

AOC and Philips monitors on Number 3 position in UK and Ireland

Also in the market of the United Kingdom and Ireland, which has been growing for six quarters in a row, the two monitor specialists have continued their successful development. AOC and Philips currently hold the Number 3 position in the overall market for monitors and also in the 27" segment.
