PRESS RELEASE

Best in Class performance in ITX format

Following the successof its innovative ITX model in its last generation of graphics cards, SAPPHIRE Technology has just announced another new model in its successful R9 series of graphics cards based on the latest GCN (Graphics Core Next) architecture from AMD.

The SAPPHIRE R9 380 ITX Compact edition was developed especially for small form factor PC systems for gaming or general purpose computing and is the only ITX board on the market using this generation of technology and delivering this class of performance. It has a short PCB, measuring only 171mm long, and featuring an efficient multi-heatpipe cooler using a single fan with dual ball bearings for high reliability as well as SAPPHIRE exclusive Black Diamond chokes providing stability. It has 2GB of the latest GDDR5 memory clocked at 1400MHz (5.6GB/s effective) and a GCN core with 1792 stream processors clocked at 980MHz. With a SAPPHIRE Performance Index* of 3 it is guaranteed to deliver a great gaming experience in high detail at 1080p and beyond.

Like all the latest models, the R9 380 ITX Compact edition delivers the latest features of AMD GCN, including AMD TrueAudio technology for the most realistic sound reproduction in games, as well as AMD Image quality enhancement, AMD HD Media accelerator and AMD PowerTune for optimum performance and support for AMD VSR (Virtual Super Resolution) and FRTC (Frame Rate Target Control). It offers support for the very latest games and applications with DirectX 12 and OpenGL 4.5 and the on-board Dual BIOS supports both UEFI and legacy systems.

This model supports AMD Eyefinity, for multi-screen operation with four monitors natively and up to six monitors with the use of MST hubs or Daisy-chained monitors. It is CrossFire ready for accelerated performance using multiple cards in a CrossFire enabled mainboard, and no interconnect cables are required as CrossFire is now enabled over the PCI-Express bus.

AMD APP acceleration is also supported for enhanced performance in a wide range of applications using the stream processing capabilities and specific hardware features of the GCN graphics architecture. Typical applications include Video encoding and decoding, compression and multiplexing for media distribution, gaming and video conferencing.  APP acceleration can also enhance everyday tasks such as Internet browsing, Office applications and file compression with supported software suites.

The SAPPHIRE R9 380 ITX Compact edition is shipping now, and is available from SAPPHIRE etailers and retailers worldwide.
