PRESS RELEASE

Latest Professional card offers great features and value

Exclusive Global Distribution partner for AMD FireProTM professional graphics, SAPPHIRE Technology has just started shipping the latest new model of professional graphics card. The AMD FireProTM W7100 graphics card delivers the graphics performance and special features that engineering and creative professionals need  - including 8GB of ultrafast GDDR5 memory, improved GeometryBoost and new HD multimedia engines - all at a competitive price.

The AMD FireProTM W7100 is based on AMD's latest Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture and features 1792 Stream processors and a new high speed memory interface connected to 8GB of the latest high speed GDDR5 memory - twice the frame buffer of the previous generation and of competing products in its class. This larger memory size helps to improve overall workstation speed and responsiveness in demanding applications. It enables users to load large assemblies, models and data sets and manipulate them with ease, or to edit 4K video, layer in multiple effects and colour correct on the fly.

GeometryBoost allows the new AMD FireProTM W7100 to process geometry data at a rate of four times per clock cycle, doubling the per-clock rate of primitive and vertex processing compared to the previous generation workstation graphics card.

The AMD FireProTM W7100 is compatible with PCI-Express 3.0, delivering data rates of up to 32GB/s over the bus. It supports DirectGMA access which bypasses any need to pass data through the host's main memory, reducing CPU utilization and avoiding redundant transfers over PCI-Express in supported applications, resulting in high throughput, low latency data transfers.

Developed to deliver great performance in Media and Entertainment applications as well as engineering design, the AMD FireProTM W7100's HD Multimedia Engines help to boost performance and support for 4K content in Video playback, editing and transcoding.

The GCN architecture features a Unified Video Decoder which has a full fix-function decode engine with support for H.264, VC-1, MPEG4, MPEG2 and now MJPEG and includes support for high frame rate 4K content. The Video Coding Engine has support for 4K resolutions, and helps to improve H.264 encode performance. It can operate up to 12x faster than real-time (24FPS) encoding for full HD (1080) video.

The AMD FireProTM W7100 is equipped with four DisplayPort 1.2a outputs to which four or more monitors can be connected simultaneously. The card can natively support up to three 4K SST panels at 60Hz., and up to six monitors can be connected in AMD Eyefinity mode using suitable monitors or external hubs. The new DisplayPort 1.2a standard with its Adaptive-Sync feature allows FreeSync technology from AMD to be enabled with a suitable monitor. This enables GPU control of display refresh rates for tear-free and jitter-free image quality when rotating models or viewing video content.

The AMD FireProTM professional graphics product family is certified on more than 100 different applications for improved performance and reliability, including the most popular design and engineering and media and entertainment applications. Users of this new generation of cards can tap into the parallel computing power of modern GPUs and multicore CPUs to accelerate compute-intensive tasks in leading CAD/CAM/CAE and media and entertainment applications that support OpenCL.

The AMD FireProTM W7100 supports OpenCL 1.2 and is expected to support OpenCL 2.0, allowing developers to take advantage of new features that give GPUs more freedom to do the work they are designed to do.

AMD FireProTM W7100 is available to order now from authorised resellers.
