PRESS RELEASE

Today the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti was released and set a new performance bar for gaming.  Along with it, NVIDIA dropped a new Game Ready Driver that is laser-focused on further improving performance in DirectX 12 games.  The new driver also enables NVIDIA Ansel in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands.

Turbocharging DirectX 12 Performance

NVIDIA has invested over 500 engineering-years of work to deliver the most comprehensive platform for developing DirectX 12 games. At GDC last week, NVIDIA introduced a collection of resources that provide developers with substantial performance gains, multiple new rendering and simulation effects, and other capabilities to help create games optimized for DirectX 12.  This collection included updates to the NVIDIA GameWorks SDK; updates to the NVIDIA VRWorks™ SDK; new developer tools; and the promise of this new Game Ready Driver.

This new Game Ready Driver is optimized for DirectX 12 games.  By refining the code in our own driver, and working side-by side with game developers, NVIDIA has delivered performance increases by an average of 16% across DirectX 12 titles, including:

Ashes of the Singularity – 9%

Gears of War 4 – 10%

Hitman – 23%

Rise of the Tomb Raider – 33%

Tom Clancy's The Division– 4%

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands gets NVIDIA Ansel

This driver also makesTom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands the latest game to get NVIDIA Ansel.

Ansel is a revolutionary new way to capture in-game shots. Think of Ansel as a camera that is integrated into your gaming experience that allows you to capture gameplay that was never before possible. When Ansel is supported in game, players can move the camera to any angle they desire, apply filters, use super resolution capture and even capture in 360 for viewing in VR. Learn more about these features in the Ansel Technology page.

Ansel is also supported in ARK: Survival Evolved, Conan Exiles, Dishonored 2, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, Obduction, Paragon, War Thunder, Watch Dogs 2, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Witness. Ansel is coming soon to upcoming titles such as Lawbreakers and Mass Effect: Andromeda. It was also recently added to Unity Engine and Unreal Engine as a plug-in and will be soon added to Amazon Lumberyard

Game Ready Drivers for the Best Gaming Experience

Available on or before launch day, NVIDIA Game Ready Drivers provide the best experience for GeForce gamers in these titles because NVIDIA engineers work up until the last possible minute to optimize performance and perfect gameplay.  And as an additional verification of quality, they are WHQL-certified by Microsoft.

Having the best possible quality for a game at launch is important. However, titles continue to evolve with new content and features through patches and DLC. Game Ready drivers aim to support all major milestones for games meaning we’re always working to bring you the best experience every time you game.
