PRESS RELEASE

TPV's subsidiaries on number 2 position in the 27" monitor segment in the UK

Amsterdam, 25 September 2013: Through product innovation and commitment to larger screen sizes AOC and MMD, the subsidiaries of the world's leading display manufacturer TPV, have achieved further growth in their market share.

The trend towards bigger displays is unbroken in the monitor market. According to the latest figures from the analyst Meko, 27" displays have reached a growth of 17 percent in Europe during the first half of 2013 compared to the same period last year.

Together, AOC and MMD, license partner for monitors of the Philips brand, Europe-wide occupy first place in the 27" segment. Reaching the top position is accompanied by a doubling of the market share from eight percent in the second quarter of 2012 to currently 16 percent.

The growth in larger screen sizes means that MMD and AOC have been able to expand their joint overall position in the monitor market. They have jumped to third place with a total of nearly 13 percent market share.

"In the consumer segment, as well as in business monitors, there is a trend to larger displays. This we have identified early on and have thus developed innovative solutions for our customers. Our market success demonstrates that our outstanding innovations more than fulfil our customers' needs," explains Thomas Schade, Vice President EMEA at AOC and MMD, the companies' market success.

Among the innovations in large displays are monitors with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels), displays featuring the PowerSensor, which helps save up to 80 percent of energy consumption, and monitors with the Ambiglow technology launched by Philips at end of last year, which creates an image-matching halo of light on the rear wall to add an extra dimension to the viewing experience. "Products such as the recently introduced 144 Hz monitor for gamers will put further drive to our success in the segment", says Thomas Schade.

In the UK also, the two brands have improved their successful development. In the second quarter their combined market share was close to ten percent - rising from 7.7 percent in the quarter before. This success is mainly based on the extraordinary development of AOC and the growth in large screen sizes where both brands - Philips and AOC - have increased their market shares. In this segment Philips has actually reached fourth place, directly followed by AOC. Together both brands' large display market share in the second quarter was 16 percent which represents the number 2 position.

"Our successful development - generally and in growth segments - underlines that we have the correct strategy and the right focus. We offer high-quality innovations combined with an excellent service and customer orientation. All these factors lead to the positive achievements we are continuously making", says Paul Butler, country head of MMD and AOC in the UK.
