PRESS RELEASE

Amsterdam, 19 August 2013 - From 23 through 26 August, the British town of Telford (near Birmingham) once again sports one of the biggest gaming tournaments and exhibition in Europe. During the 49th edition of "Insomnia", both display specialist AOC and MMD, license partner for Philips monitors, will present the latest developments in gamer-targeted display technology. At the Philips monitor booth, the e-sports experts from team Prophecy will demonstrate how to make best use of these top-notch peripherals. In addition, the tournament final's stage is fitted out with AOC monitors.

Monitor technology at its best

AOC presents the myUltraSpeed, a 24″ (61 cm) Full HD model with the stunning refresh rate of 144 Hz. Boasting a pixel response time of only one millisceond, the myUltraSpeed provides competitive gamers with super-smooth images and a possibly decisive head start in frames per second. For a maximum of user convenience, the monitor offers full ergonomic flexibility as well as a wide range of connectors, including a USB hub integrated in the bezel. Also on display from AOC: the impressive 29″ (73.6 cm) model myMulti-Play. Featuring a high-class IPS panel in the Cinemascope format 21:9, this super-wide screen provides gamers with a larger overall view. For Android enthusiasts, the WQHD model (resolution: 2560 x 1080 pixels) also directly connects with Android gadgets via MHL standard. Last but not least, the e2461Fwh, an entry-level LED-backlit monitor will also be exhibited. It utilises a quick-reacting TN panel with a response time of two milliseconds only.

Various monitor models from Philips will be shown as well. The Gioco Ambiglow, a 27″ (68.6 cm) flicker-free 3D model, features an unique array of LEDs at the back of the AH-IPS monitor. These produce a halo of ambient light which seemingly enlarges the viewed picture and create a real immersive gaming experience - fantastically enhancing the stereoscopic 3D depth effect. In addition, a Philips 144 Hz model monitor will be exhibited as well. The state-of-the-art 24″ (61 cm) display comes in a terrific design and with a unique remote control, which allows users to quickly toggle between different customisable settings. And for those who just want more, there is also a 29″ WQHD monitor from Philips with numerous benefits such as MultiView, allowing to display signals from different sources side-by-side.
