The LG G Flex smartphone, unveiled back in October, will be in selected EE shops as of this Friday. That's great news for those who can’t wait to wrap their hands around this innovative curved and flexible smartphone. However this good news is tempered by the fact that the handset won’t actually be available to buy in the UK until February 2014.

LG G Flex will be displayed in ten EE stores across the country, including the following locations:

  • London – Westfield Shopping Centre, Stratford E20 1EH
  • London – Westfield Shopping Centre, White City W12 7GG
  • London – 155/157 Oxford Street, W1D 2JH
  • Kent - Bluewater Shopping Centre, DA9 9ST
  • Nottingham - 16 Clumber Street, NG1 3GA
  • Manchester – The Trafford Centre, M17 8AP
  • Brighton – 209-210 Western Road, BN1 2BA
  • Cambridge – 40-41 Lions Yard, CB2 3NA
  • Merry Hill – The Merryhill Centre, DY5 1QX
  • Sheffield – Meadowhall Centre, S9 1EN

The LG G Flex is well known for its curved 6-inch display and construction that is designed to bend and resist up to 88 pounds of force as well as its innovative scratch resistant features. “LG is renowned for its technical innovation so we’re pleased to be working with them to bring the G Flex to UK consumers. The G Flex is perfectly optimised to take advantage of our unique double-speed 4G network and will provide users with an immersive viewing experience so they can make the most out of watching video on the go,” said EE Director of Devices, Sharon Meadows.

EE also reminded us that the curve mirrors “the curves of the human face and reducing the distance between a user’s mouth and the microphone. Beyond this the curve is said to be comfortable to hold and to pocket and watching videos and playing game in landscape mode on the device is an immersive and comfortable experience. As a new cutting edge handset the specs are also pretty good, as summarised below.

LG G Flex key specifications:

  • Processor: 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800
  • 2GB of RAM
  • Display: curved 6-inch 720p
  • Dimensions: 7.9mm - 8.7mm thick, 177g
  • Cameras: 13-megapixel rear, 2.1-megapixel front facing camera
  • Battery: 3,500mAh
  • OS: Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean

As mentioned in the intro this interesting new handset is set to hit shelves in Feb 2014 however EE has no pricing information, on or off contract, for us at this time. In its native South Korea this smartphone is priced around the £580 mark.

Jesus that is a massive battery for a smartphone. 3500mAh? My 3 year old Atrix has 1900mAh. My 2 month old Galaxy S3 has 2100mAh.

Bout damn time someone started focusing on battery size!
My galaxy note 3 has 3200mAh battery, however it does run higher spec hardware. So that lg should have atleast two days of charge in it… but still..6inch 720p…

but still..6inch 720p…

Yer, 720p on a 6" screen must look atrocious.

Your Galaxy Note 3 is a Phablet. This is a phone. The larger the device gets, the bigger the battery gets, that's why laptops have 60,000mAh batteries.
I wish this was cheap. I really like the self healing technology.
