Fantastic 4 – Gamecube

Whilst Nick Haywood shares Mr Fantastic’s grey hair, though the only elastic thing about him is his waistline, the tubby git…

Okay, so Marvel must be raking in the money right now… we’ve got games based on Marvel Superhero popping out all over the place and films doing the same too. Who’d of thought that drawing stuff could earn you so much? Anyway, the latest in the barrage of games based on Marvel’s superheroes is the Fantastic 4, enjoying a multi-platform release. And I’m powering up the GameCube version to see if the game is a ‘Marvel’lous as the original comics are.

For those of you who either haven’t seen the film or were more 2000AD fans, the Fantastic 4 are bunch of friends led by Reed Richards who, in an attempted inter-stellar space flight, were bombarded by cosmic rays. Forced to return to Earth, the four found that the cosmic rays had altered their DNA, giving them amazing powers. Reed could stretch his body all over the shop and his best friend Ben Grimm was permanently stuck as an orange version of the Hulk, but without the temper. Reed’s girlfriend, Sue Storm was along for the ride (he probably needed something to do on the long flight, eh?) and she could now turn invisible. Her younger brother, also on the space bound picnic trip, was now able to become a flaming torch… and so Mr. Fantastic, the Thing, Invisible Girl and the Human Torch banded together to form the Fantastic 4.
