Rockstar has made a u-turn on its comments earlier today when it claimed that it was the fault of the PlayStation 3's latest firmware update that consoles were crashing, not the fault of L.A. Noire discs.

"We have received some reports of PS3s overheating while playing L.A. Noire or beeping three times before shutting down/turning themselves off, mostly on older 60GB and 80GB fat models," read the initial post. ""Primary reports seem to be that updating to firmware 3.61 will cause PlayStations to overheat." Rockstar has now retracted that statement after discovering that is actually a disc problem and not related to the firmware update after all.

Rockstar has now said that a patch will be made available shortly to fix the issue. It's also been reported that the problem isn't resigned to PS3 either, with some players reporting that LA Noire has also caused their Xbox 360s to crash.
