You've got to love Nintendo for its ability to think outside of the conventional gaming bubble and create weird and wonderful games, but most of all you gotta love them for truly innovating within the industry time and time again.

At today's keynote speech, Nintendo has proved once again that it is the master of originality when it comes to its videogames, but it also had a few other surprises up its wizard-like sleeve.

The show opened with snowboarding gold medalist Shaun White demonstrating how the intuitive Wii board will work on the upcoming game from Ubisoft 'Shaun White snowboarding'.

Onto the games, and the first new title revealed was from the hugely popular franchise, Animal Crossing. Animal Crossing City Folk is coming to Wii at the end of the year , but unlike any other Animal Crossing before will feature Wii Speak, a new microphone allowing gamers worldwide to talk to each other as they move around the game world.

There are dozens of new games coming in the next few months for Wii say Nintendo, but at the presentation it chose to showcase just a handful of games, including Star Wars The Clone Wars, which of course uses the light saber peripheral; Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, in which we'll be able to surf the skies on the Wii balance board and finally an epic-looking, but very brief Call of Duty World at War trailer.

The biggest gasps of the evening though came when Nintendo showcased Wii Music, a game allowing users to play 50 different instruments, including the drums with the Wii-mote and Nunchuck, the Saxaphone with the Wii-mote, the piano and the violin! The balance board can also be used as a drum pedal. The Nintendo crew also gave a very funny rendition of the Mario theme tune, with four of them on stage playing different instruments with their Wii-motes and Nunchucks.

Nintendo also showed its Wii Motionplus dongle, which attaches to the Wii-mote. Nintendo say that it will drive player immersion further by redefining game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. It showcased the new dongle by playing the successor to Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, which will be packaged with games such as Dog Discs, jet skiing and fencing. A bit of a bizarre mix, but it certainly looked a lot of fun.

Onto the DS and Nintendo revealed Spore Creatures, Guitar Hero On Tour Decades and yet another Pokemon title, Pokemon Rangers Shadows of Almia. The most exciting news from the DS camp was that the hand-held will be getting its first taste of Grand Theft Auto action very soon with GTA China Town Wars!

Away from the gaming arena, Nintendo is also planning on using the DS as a lifestyle companion, so we can use it to find restaurants, or even to find out where to pick our luggage up from. Now that's innovative!

Another exciting presentation at E3 by Nintendo! Wii Music looks really cool. We'll bring you more on the individual titles and peripherals later on! Meanwhile, the Sony conference beckons!
