Upcoming first-and third-person open-world adventure platform game Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will start a (closed) beta on Friday 22nd April. The game will be available on PC, Xbox One and PS4 and so that you know if your PC is ready for the beta test EA DICE has published a set of minimum and recommended specs for enjoying the game.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is a reboot of the original game, again featuring Faith Connors and her running, jumping, parkour skills around an urban environment. The new game is improved by not being linear: offering multiple paths among the open world to get to your destinations. Combat mechanics have also been overhauled with Faith’s melee attacks much more of a game focus this time around.

The closed beta starts tomorrow and if you have managed to get on board you can enjoy it until 26th April. After the beta ends DICE has more or less a month to use the data and feedback to get the game ready for final release (24th May).

So what kind of PC do you need to enjoy the upcoming game on PC? The official minimum and recommended specs are as follows:

MINIMUM:

  • OS: Windows® 7 64-Bit (use the latest Service Pack)
  • CPU: Intel i3-3250 / AMD FX-6350. (Note: Mirror's Edge Catalyst requires at least 4 logical cores to run.)
  • RAM: 6 GB
  • HARD DRIVE: At least 25 GB of free space
  • VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 650 Ti 2GB or better / AMD Radeon™ R9 270x or better
  • INPUT: Keyboard and mouse, dual analogue controller

RECOMMENDED:

  • OS: Windows® 10 64-Bit (use the latest Service Pack)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 at 3.4 GHz / AMD FX-8350 at 4.0 GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • HARD DRIVE: At least 25 GB of free space
  • VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 970 4GB or better / AMD Radeon™ R9 280x 3GB or better
  • INPUT: Keyboard and mouse, dual analogue controller

You will notice from the above that a minimum of a ‘four logical core’ processor is required to enjoy the game. The recommended RAM of 16GB is pretty expansive and it will be interesting to see if common-or-garden 8GB systems suffer much degradation when the game is released in May.

Are any of you guys actually planning on buying this (and any inevitable DLC)?
errr no … but i could see the appeal in vr ..
Yes, I might, as I prefer to keep an open mind instead of being, “Ohh I don't like it so I'll assume that no-one else does and seek clarification for my point of view”.
I loved the original but as with all things I won't be preordering and will wait for reviews.

Same, I love the original for what it is, but don't think this'll be a pre-order or day-1 purchase for me.

Does look nice, though.
