4A Games and Deep Silver have announced that they will be launching a remastered Metro collection which bundles Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. This bundle is called Metro: Redux and can be seen as an 'HD Reboot' for the series which provides the "most compelling Metro experience ever". Also this pack brings the games to the next Microsoft and Sony gen consoles.

Metro: Last Light is admittedly pretty new for a re-boot, I got my copy bundled with a GeForce GTX graphics card just a year ago, but 4A says that both games have been "fully re-mastered and improved". The guys at PCGamer think that the bundle is just a vehicle for launching both titles on the next gen consoles, as the developers promise the "silky smooth 60fps," that was easily within the grasp of many PC gamers anyway.

However it must be admitted that transferring the earlier Metro 2033 to use Last Light's graphics engine could make a big difference to visuals and even gameplay. The earlier game is promised to benefit from "advanced enemy AI, improved combat and stealth mechanics, superior weapon handling and more responsive, intuitive controls plus signature features from Last Light such as the atmospheric 'mask wipe' mechanic, weapon customisation, and silent kills and take-downs". Meanwhile Last Light will also be upgraded with graphics tweaks and the 10 hours of Season Pass DLC bundled in.

Metro 2033 was first launched in March 2010 for PC and Xbox 360. Metro: Last Light originally launched for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in May 2013. The new Redux editions of the games will be available together as a bundle for $50/£35, or separately for $25/€20/£16 this summer. IGN reports that Linux and SteamOS versions of the games will be available later in the year.
