EA/Maxis has announced the first major DLC pack for Sim City. The expansion will be called ‘Cities of Tomorrow’ as it is set 50 years in the future. You, the city builder, will have access to various new technologies that could exist in a half century into the future to build the futuristic city of your dreams, or nightmares.

What future will you build?

The new tech at your disposal in ‘Cities of Tomorrow’ will offer up new exciting opportunities. EA ponders what Sim City gamers will choose to create with the expansion pack; “Will it become a consumer-driven city filled with bright lights, robotics and a low-wealth workforce? Or will it become an urban utopia that develops clean technology and is controlled by the rich?”

More specific new options available to Sim City builders include tech based on real-world technology such as “Mag Levs that rise above the city streets, futurized vehicles, and service drones”. Also towering multi-zone MegaTowers can make more use of city real estate space than anything before.

Another theme in the expansion pack is that of Corporate Consumerism vs. Green Utopian ideals. These are two new city ‘specialisations’ based on almost directly opposing philosophies. We are told that the future also holds a new type of terrible disaster, which may wreak havoc upon your carefully nurtured city infrastructure, a phenomena known as “a giant robot attack”. Sounds like fun.

EA informs us that the ‘Cities of Tomorrow’ expansion pack will be launched on 12th Nov in US and 15th Nov in Europe. Pricing is yet to be revealed.

Can you build large cities yet?
Don't care about the DLC, they have ruined the game for me already. Too many times have friends and I had to abandon areas because one or multiple cities will not load/unaccessable.
You know I bought this game and I still haven't gotten round to actually playing it.
It's a pity though, everywhere I go I still see negative comments about it.
I thought they fixed all the issues
First DLC?

First expansion.

There has been DLC available pretty much since launch……which has been half of the games problem IMO.
Take a look at the updates page, and look in amazement at the 18 or so patches since the game was released.

have they fixed all the issues!?!? lol
