Considering Aliens Colonial Marines has been in development for over six years, it was feared that Gearbox Software's first person shooter may never see the light of day.

However, at the Penny Arcade Expo over the weekend, where we discovered that the Texas-based company has picked up the development duties for Duke Nukem Forever, Gearbox's Randy Pitchfork also revealed new screenshots for the Aliens game, confirming that it is still in development.

When it wil actually be released is unknown.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is a squad-based first-person shooter in which the player controls four Colonial Marines battling against an alien threat. Published by Sega, the game will be based on the 20th Century Fox franchise, gaining inspiration from the characters and creatures of the Aliens movies.

In Aliens: Colonial Marines, players are part of a United States Colonial Marine squad and must prepare to face an alien assault more intense and horrific than ever before. Driven by an original story penned by renowned writers Bradley Thompson and David Weddle Aliens: Colonial Marines will retain the atmospheric look and feel of the original films while leveraging next-generation technology to create an entirely new interactive Aliens experience.

YES!!!! After seeing Aliens Vs Predator series get ruined with the re release i really hope gearbox are putting good effort (not just a crap load of time).

A scary and squad based shooter is just a perfect mix, co-op is getting more and more important in games and to me it really helps make my decision to buy it or not nowadays.

Cannot wait for this!
