Ubisoft has begun to promote a new Ubisoft Club rewards programme. This is a free to join club, for anyone with a Uplay account. Once you join the club you will earn rewards for simply playing the games. Rewards include; "exclusive benefits such as extra game content, limited edition goodies, or discounts in the shop".

While playing Uplay games Ubisoft Club members will accrue XP, Badges and Units. Units are Ubisoft's currency, as in 'U'nits. If you have Ubisoft games across multiple platforms, such as a console and PC, for example, your benefits can be combined. Ubisoft says this will help you "stand out amongst your friends" and allow access to greater privileges on the platform.

As mentioned in the intro, extras you can 'earn' from being in the Ubisoft Club include the following:

  • Extra in-game content
  • Participation in betas
  • Goodies
  • Discounts in the shop

Simply playing any Ubisoft game from the catalogue available will earn you Units. By showing extra skill and performing new 'actions' in games you gain extra XP. Badges help show your friends your play level and experience. When/if you join up, Ubisoft will include game-related info from your Uplay account so you might find you become a rather high level member straight away.

To recap, the Ubisoft Club is free to join, can work with any current Ubisoft game, is cross platform and Ubisoft are offering various 'exclusive benefits' to gamers who join. If you are interested in signing up go to the Club homepage UK, USA.

Because UPlay isn't bad enough already. Note to Ubisoft: If you're going to copy things that Steam does, don't start with the pointless bits nobody likes. A better start would be making it less of a crashfest and stop your overlay (which nobody uses,) interfering with other running programs.
Oooh badges!
Could be interesting if it wasn't uplay. (Ubisoft - the only publisher I avoid more than EA…)
I hope nobody bothers with this so ubisoft get the hint that nobody want's all their crapware & that definitely includes uplay.
I'm honestly stunned…
