Remember when OCZ was showing off prototypes of its latest Flash-based storage solutions back at CES in January?
Well, those products are all now coming good. We've already seen the second-generation Vertex 2, Agility 2 and Z-Drive SSDs, and we're this week being treated to a portable solution in the form of a USB 3.0 drive dubbed Enyo.
Measuring just 10mm thick, the smart-looking drive features an anodised aluminium shell and blue LED activity indicators.
Inside, there's MLC Flash memory - in either 64GB, 128GB or 256GB servings - and a 64MB onboard cache. That potent combination will deliver read and write speeds of up to 260MB/s and 200MB/s, respectively, for the range-topping 256GB model, and OCZ's "Background Garbage Collection" technology should ensure performance doesn't degrade over time.
You'll need a USB 3.0 socket to make use of the blistering speeds, as well as a healthy bank balance. Expect to pay in the region of $230 for the smallest 64GB model, or up to $820 for the top-of-the-line 256GB drive. The latter works out at around £550 excluding VAT.
[Update] OCZ's 64GB, 128GB and 256GB Enyo drives are now available to pre-order from SCAN.co.uk* priced at £185.91, £335.54 and £671.09, respectively.
