Introduction

Apple first introduced the iPod in 2002 and never expected this new device to gain so much popularity, especially among Windows users.  The simplistic design, high speed connectivity, and unique touch sensitive controller were some of the main attractions.  The bulky size was justified by the data storage capacity and long lasting battery power.  Formerly Mac iPods were formatted HFS and Windows iPods FAT, but the new iPods are all HFS, now bringing Mac and PC iPods closer to each other.

The new iPod has improved on the previous design and got some new features.  This time round, all the buttons are touch-sensitive and have been re-aligned, there's a blue backlit screen, a new dock (except the 10gig model) and a thinner design.  Only 0.6 inches thick and as light as two cd cases (158g) it's already a winner, but is it really?
