Gitex 2006 - Creative X-Mod out in the open

Gitex 2006
A recent press release from Creative announced the arrival of the X-Mod, a device that claims to make your MP3s sound just as good as the original recordings.

Our brief time with the device revealed the two switches on either side add in the claimed effects, with the left adding in a bass line and the other seemingly boosting the treble side of the audio. The Black Eyed Peas were the tune of choice and the difference in the audio quality was clear enough to hear, but was it as good as the original; that’s still open to debate. If Creative ever returns our emails we might just one of these in for review – until then though, it's up to you to decide if you really want something better from your MP3s. Me personally? If I wanted that sort of audio quality it would be good old vinyl.

Our considered opinion is that you should be encoding with losslessly, anyway.
