PRESS RELEASE

Logitech have put together some home office tips with the run up to the Olympics as many will be working from home.

There are some people who love working from home, but the large majority struggle to concentrate, finding their home office space uninspiring and dull, and definitely not conducive to a good working environment.

However - working from home is set to be big this year as the Olympics are fast approaching, and businesses, unsurprisingly are starting to panic about their workforce. The Government has even issued some information on keeping businesses running during the 2012 games.

With lots of staff opting to work from home in the summer, many worry that productivity will suffer with all the distractions that the home has to offer.

Marcus Harvey, General Manager UK & IRE, Logitech says: "We want to empower people who are working from home, and give them some inspiration for their home office. With some of the latest home office gadgets, such as tablet accessories and solar keyboards, Logitech is well placed to make the experience enjoyable, and just as productive as if you were working in the office - without the commuting stress."

Logitech Home Office Tips

  • Use wireless gadgets and office equipment to achieve a tidy desk: no one wants leads trailing around everywhere, getting tangled and in your way. Go wireless for your mousekeyboard and headset, meaning you can position them in the place that suits you best
  • Decorate your home office space effectively:you want to create an office that is somewhere you look forward to going to, as you'll be spending most of your day in here. Use colours that make you feel positive and office furniture that is ergonomically designed with the user in mind
  • Quiet or loud - it needs to work for you: some people work best in silence, other find the silence uncomfortable. If you're in the latter group, background music will relax your mind and ensure you aren't focusing on other things. Try some wireless speakers to keep desk clutter to a minimum
  • Lights, camera, action! OK so it's less about the camera, but light will definitely put you into action. A dark space is no space for high levels of productivity, so make sure your work space is near a source of natural light, and that there's fresh air around you. Why not take advantage of this natural light by using a solar powered keyboard?
  • Stay connected: Skype is a great tool to use for meetings when you're not physically in the office and having a good webcam that won't let you down will be vital for this
  • Keep your desk space tidy and clear from clutter: they say that an ‘organised space is an organised mind', so ensure that you keep your desk tidy to maximise productivity
  • This is your space, no one else's: Keep this space as yours, separate from the rest of the house. You could section an area off with a dividing wall, or use a room that's furthest away from the noisiest parts of the house
