PRESS RELEASE

28th November 2012 - Today, Wacom announces that Inkling, a digital sketch pen that captures a digital likeness of a user's work while they sketch on traditional paper, now supports Adobe CS6 and Autodesk SketchBook Pro 6 software. The update is available for download from the Wacom Europe website.

Designed for rough concepting and creative brainstorming, Inkling bridges the gap between paper sketching and digital drawing. It gives users at the front end of the creative process such as artists, illustrators and graphic designers a way to rough-out ideas with real ink on paper while capturing their concepts digitally so that they can be later refined on their computer.

Inkling can be used with any standard paper or sketchbook. By positioning the wireless receiver on the edge of the page, with an uninterrupted line of sight to the pen tip, users can capture the likeness of the sketch and store it digitally. The ballpoint pen uses Wacom's pressure sensing technology (1024 levels of sensitivity) to detect how hard the pen is being pressed to the paper and these pressure variations will appear in the digital version of the drawing. Inkling even allows users to create layers in the digital file while sketching on paper.

When sketching is complete, the receiver is connected to the user's USB to transfer all sketches as bitmap or vector files. These files can then be opened with the included Inkling Sketch Manager software to edit, delete, add layers or change the format. Files can also be transferred to creative software applications for further editing including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 (both 32bit and 64bit operating systems), as well as Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 6. Alternatively, files can be saved in JPG, BMP, TIFF, PNG, SVG and PDF formats for use with other applications. Inkling Sketch Manager also supports Mac OS 10.8.

For customers who have already purchased the Inkling or intend to purchase an Inkling shortly, Wacom offers the Inkling Sketch Manager 1.1 update for download. For all registered Wacom customers the update is available after login at https://www.wacom.eu/register/.

Pricing and availability

The Inkling sketch pen is priced at £149.99 (including VAT) and is available now from Wacom partners and the Wacom eStore http://uk.shop.wacom.eu/products/inkling.
